The 1960s Batman TV series, known for its campy style and exuberant approach to the superhero genre, became an iconic cultural phenomenon shortly after its debut in 1966. Starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin, the dynamic duo of Gotham City, the show was characterized by its vibrant colors, exaggerated fight scenes marked by onomatopoeic graphics ("POW!", "BAM!", "ZAP!"), and a tongue-in-cheek tone that delighted in puns and playful humor.


The series was a stark contrast to the darker, more serious interpretations of Batman that would follow in the comics and later film adaptations. It featured a rogues' gallery of flamboyantly costumed villains, including the Joker, the Penguin, Catwoman (Today's episode's villain!) , and the Riddler, who were portrayed with a delightful mix of menace and camp by a revolving cast of guest stars.
